GO ON A ROUTE THROUGH THE LAND OF WINES

Visit the wineries and cellars in the most important Spanish area dedicated to wines: the guarantee of origin 'RIOJA' . It is said that the ancient Romans brought the winyards to Spain, carrying out the production in the monasteries. There are two main towns that could take the name of 'capital of wine' : Laguardia and Haro. Haro is, undoubtedly, the capital of wine industry, founded by french wine producers in the 19th century, whereas Laguardia is a charming medieval city built up over wineries. Due to the lasts investments and facilities, Laguardia might be more recommended, where the wineries and the new modern arquitecture have joined together to meet the new art of wine.

LAGUARDIA

LAGUARDIA is the capital of wine in the Basque Country, 150 km. far from Bilbao. Discover the singularities of the new designed wineries, where many modern arquitects have worked on their new style creating a new view on the wine enterprises. On the other hand, this town still keeps the design of the middle age, and its fortification dates from the 12th-13th centuries, showing the militar purpose of the town.

Ysios Winery, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

'Marques de Riscal'  Winery and Hotel. Designed by the world famous architect Frank Gehry. Its style is very close to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. This amazing building is the Hotel, joined to the winery, but its entrance is restricted to clients of the Hotel.
