Coast 2: Tourism

THE TRANSPORTER BRIDGE  (UNESCO's Human Patrimony)
Made in 1893 by the Pupil of Eiffel, Alberto de Palacio, it is considered the first transporter bridge with hanging vehicle in the world. It is the union between Portugalete and Getxo, close to the stuary of the river. You are able to walk over the footbridge 50 metres over the river (ticket 5 €).

 THE OLD PORT OF ALGORTA

It was set up during the 18th century as a fishing port. It is not a large neighbourhood, but it has its own charm. During the beginning of the 20th century, this area was selected to be a winter residence for the aristocracy and many small palaces were built up around here.

 BEACHES AND CLIFFS

The wind and the sea have created these rocky cliffs. Just take a walk and enjoy!

The typical places to visit are the transporter bridge and the old port. This route might take between two and three hours. If you wanted to see the beaches and cliffs, we would need at least four hours. For further information contact me         javi@taxibilbao.info
